Dissatisfied with traditional conferences, and realizing that he loved to connect with people, and to create spaces for them to connect with each other, he created the first peer conference in 1992, and has been refining peer conference process ever since.
His ground-breaking book Conferences That Work: Creating Events That People Love was published in November 2009, and he currently consults on, designs, and facilitates participant-driven and participation-rich events. His next book The Power of Participation: Creating Conference Sessions That Deliver Learning, Connection, Engagement, and Action will be published in 2015.
Adrian has a Ph.D. in experimental elementary particle physics, was an independent information technology consultant for 23 years, taught college computer science for 10 years, and co-owned and managed a solar manufacturing company before that. He lives in Marlboro, Vermont, is active in the non-profit world, and loves to sing and dance.
Adrian has been named one of the most innovative people in events by BizBash Magazine, one of MeetingNet's Eleven Most Influential Online Personalities in Meetings and Travel, and has been quoted on the front page of the Wall Street Journal. He has presented at most of the major meeting profesion conferences, writes regularly on event design and related issues on his blog, and is the community manager of the Google Plus #eventprofs community.
